Genetic Consultation
Do you want to know if there’s a way for your children to skip inheritance of certain health issues you or a family member is dealing with? Talk with IVF Matters Geneticist Dr Melita Irving and discuss in-depth the appropriate steps you need to take to avoid passing genetics-related health concerns before pregnancy.
Dr Melita Irving is a London-based consultant and honorary reader in clinical genetics with extensive experience in diagnosing and managing a wide range of genetic conditions. Her areas of expertise include chromosomal anomalies and their impact on fertility, conditions with an underlying genetic cause that might affect successful reproduction and rare genetic syndromes.
Dr Irving also undertakes genetic work-up for prenatal diagnosis (PND) and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), a prerequisite for onward referral to these allied specialist services. Having initially trained in paediatrics, Dr Irving is accredited in clinical genetics at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust, London, which remains her NHS base. She has a doctorate in clinical genetics research and her work is regularly published in highly respected, peer-reviewed journals.
Dr Irving is a past member of the Specialist Advisory Committee of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and President of the Medical Genetics section of the Royal Society of Medicine. She won the GHP Private Healthcare Awards 2019 – “Best Genetic Healthcare Provider 2019 – UK”.
IVF Matters cares about your well-being, and we want you to know that this service is available even if you’re already working with another centre and want a second opinion.
FAQs
IVF Matters is a unique service that allows you to receive private fertility care from the comfort of your own home with some of the UK’s leading fertility consultants. Once you book your consultation you will be notified of your finalised appointment time via email and we will be in touch using your preferred contact method.
The service offers you exactly the same level of care, knowledge and attention that you would receive by visiting a physical clinic, but at an affordable cost. Whether you’re having a new consultation at the start of your fertility journey or you are returning to continue, you can expect highly personalised service.
If this is your first appointment with our specialist then you will not be expected to have any reports. However, if you have done some tests but do not have a copy of your results, you may proceed with the consultation with the aim to send the reports to us following the appointment.
Our consultant will aim to discuss your disorder. This will include asking a range of questions covering a range of topics, including your medical history and analysing your previous investigations. Subsequently, tests may be recommended to confirm the diagnosis. If you have already done the necessary tests, a discussion about your options and possible next steps will be carried out.
After the initial appointment, you may be asked to perform tests that are relevant to you as we try to set your fertility journey on the right course. Alternatively, you may be told about your treatment options.
IVF Matters offer the complete fertility journey in surroundings that you feel comfortable in. You will be able to receive the attentive care and advice from a range of private fertility consultants at a cost-effective price. As well as our video consultations, you’ll also have the opportunity to receive a range of ultrasound scans and laboratory tests based on your needs at one of our many partner clinics across the country.
Our consultants will get to know you and offer you the best care possible as you try to start your family. IVF Matters has dealt with patients at all stages of trying for a baby and has many years of experience.
You may have just started trying for a baby or have some initial concerns that were raised in the past that you would like addressed. Other patients may have unfortunately had a previously failed pregnancy and are seeking assurances as they try for a baby again. Or, it might be that you've just finished an unsuccessful fertility treatment and you would like a second opinion. We can also help women by discussing the process involved in egg freezing.
IVF Matters is the 1st fertility service in the UK to offer interest-free payment plans for diagnostic tests. We offer 2 payment plans - Splitit and Humm.
Splitit enables you to pay with an existing VISA or MasterCard credit card by splitting the cost into interest and fee-free monthly payments, without additional registrations or applications. To be eligible, you must have the entire amount of your purchase available on your card. At the time of purchase, you will only be charged for the first payment. The remaining balance will be held on the credit card until the final payment is made.
Humm Humm lets you spread the total cost over 12 monthly payments. The first payment equal to 1/12 of the purchase price occurs once your order is completed.
