Dr Melita Irving
Geneticist
Dr Melita Irving is an expert London-based consultant and honorary reader in clinical genetics with extensive experience in diagnosing and managing a wide range of genetic conditions.
Her areas of expertise include chromosomal anomalies and their impact upon fertility, conditions with an underlying genetic cause that might affect successful reproduction and rare genetic syndromes.
Dr Irving also undertakes genetic work-up for prenatal diagnosis (PND) and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), a prerequisite for onward referral to these allied specialist services.
Having initially trained in paediatrics, Dr Irving accredited in clinical genetics at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust, London, which remains her NHS base. She has a doctorate in clinical genetics research and her work is regularly published in highly respected, peer-review journals.
Dr Irving is a past member of the Specialist Advisory Committee of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and President of the Medical Genetics section of the Royal Society of Medicine.
She is the winner of the GHP Private Healthcare Awards 2019 – “Best Genetic Healthcare Provider 2019 – UK”.
