This test includes a complimentary call with our fertility expert, Dr Irfana Koita.

This test aims to help you determine if there are common infection-causing microorganisms present in your semen - a vital, yet often overlooked, first step before specific fertility treatments.

Whether you’re performing the test as a prerequisite for IVF / IUI or are doing it as part of your fertility assessment workup, we’re here to help you accurately determine if any pathogenic substances need to be treated first before spending your money on expensive fertility procedures.

You’ll conduct the sample collecting in the comfort and privacy of your own home. We’ll send a discrete kit to your preferred address and email the results within 7 working days.

Your results will be reviewed by our in-house fertility expert Dr Irfana Koita, who’ll discuss your results and explore possible treatment options if required.

Feel free to use our services or contact us, even if you’re undergoing treatment at another private or NHS Clinic.

 

Information

What test will be performed?

Semen culture looks for the presence of aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms. Antibiotic sensitivity testing is also performed.

Who should have the test?

All men having a fertility assessment or treatment.

Any prerequisite for the test?

Yes, empty your bladder, wash your hands and genitalia before producing the semen sample. This will limit contamination due to the presence of bacteria in the lower urethra and skin. Do not touch the inner surface of the culture pot. 

Kindly, label the sample with your full name and date of birth before posting it. You must return the request form with the sample.

The sample should be collected and posted on the same day (before midday), so that it reaches the laboratory by the following day. Please do not post the sample on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

Can I pay in instalments?

IVF Matters is the 1st fertility service in the UK to offer interest-free payment plans for diagnostic tests. We offer 2 payment plans - Splitit and LayBuy.

Splitit enables you to pay with an existing VISA or MasterCard credit card by splitting the cost into interest and fee-free monthly payments, without additional registrations or applications. To be eligible, you must have the entire amount of your purchase available on your card. At the time of purchase, you will only be charged for the first payment. The remaining balance will be held on the credit card until the final payment is made. 

LayBuy lets you spread the total cost over 6 weekly automatic payments. The first payment equal to one-sixth of the purchase price occurs once your order is completed. The remaining 5 payments are processed each week on the day of the original purchase. You will be required to log in to or set up a Laybuy account to use this payment facility. Selecting Laybuy at checkout will provide you an opportunity to register for an account.

 

How do I opt for this service?
