What’s the SpermComet?
SpermComet is a male fertility test. Unlike semen analysis which just looks at the outside of sperm, the SpermComet looks inside to assess the quality of your sperm DNA. This is really important as damage to sperm DNA has been shown to lead to a number of fertility problems from failed fertilisation to poor embryo development and even miscarriage. Your sperm DNA is the instruction manual for making your baby so you need to keep it as healthy as you can. Good quality sperm DNA = better chances of making a healthy baby.
The SpermComet will test the quality of your sperm DNA. When combined with standard semen analysis (count, motility and shape), the SpermComet gives you the full picture on your sperm health and ability to make a healthy baby.
It’s important to have a full picture on your sperm health before having any treatment. If you have significant damage to your sperm DNA, it can be helpful to reduce this damage before undergoing any fertility treatment. As a new batch of sperm is produced around every 3 months, you can improve your sperm quality quickly, increasing your chance of pregnancy.
The SpermComet test provides men with unique information on their sperm health, helping men get a handle on their fertility.
